CCTV strategies

A great deal of investment has been made into CCTV technology as a key weapon in the crime reduction strategies adopted by town councils and local authorities. In some cases the results have been impressive. For example, Strathclyde reported a 75% drop after one installation. However, these results can be short-lived and lead to public disquiet.

There is no doubt that this country is still learning how to use CCTVA recent Home Office report found that this was not necessarily the fault of the technology but, more often, from difficulties in implementation, and clearly defining and understanding objectives at the outset.

Scyron consultants work with central and local authorities to ensure that they maximise their CCTV investment by helping to clearly define the objectives of the project, thus carefully plan and drive the most efficient and cost-effective implementation of the technology. We’ll help you:

  • Clearly understand the type of criminal or anti-social behaviour you are addressing.
  • Understand which crimes are most suitable for this type of approach and how you should apply your limited budget to maximum effect.
  • Help to plan the installation of equipment to ensure the best video footage is obtained.
  • Automate a good deal of the capture and analysis of video information to reduce the time and cost involved in manual operator monitoring.
  • Enable multi-site – such as a number of town centres – surveillance that doesn’t neglect quiet locations so that you can focus on busier environments by intelligently monitoring all locations and sending instant alerts to the control room should an event of interest occur.
  • Ensure that video information is captured, managed and stored in a format that is suitable for evidential purposes, helping to increase conviction rates.
  • Integrate your CCTV strategy with other crime reduction initiatives happening in the area and with law enforcement agencies.
  • Extend the life of your current CCTV equipment by adding intelligence at the point of capture and management so you increase the Return on Investment of your system at the same time as you increase its effectiveness.
Our goal is to help you drive the success of your CCTV strategy. It can be effective at deterring crime in the longer term if it demonstrates to the public an increased number of arrests and convictions.
