Scyron sponsors GMP Tri Challenge

On Thursday 3rd July 2008, twelve Police Officers from Greater Manchester Police and a support team set off on an endurance Tri Challenge from John O'Groats. The officers successfully completed the challenge of cycling 870 miles from John O'Groats to Lands End, running 400 miles to Dover and finally swimming 21 miles.

The officers formed two teams of six. Both teams successfully completed each phase non-stop, night and day, in relays. The plan was to swim across the Channel, however the teams experienced difficulties in obtaining the services of support vessels to protect them. Instead, they completed the challenge by swimming the same distance in Laybourne Lake, Kent.  The teams successfully completed the challenge in only seven days.

About When I Wish Upon a Star

The Officers sought sponsorship for a deserving charity "When You Wish Upon A Star", whose primary aim is to grant the wishes of children with a life-threatening or terminal illness.  The Charity make magical memories for some very courageous children.
