DEMON server manages today's large volumes of video and multimedia evidence; as well as the head - and body - mounted camera projects that are becoming a common part of everyday policing. It allows users to intelligently and securely search, retrieve and interrogate the information while complying with DPA, ACPO, Home Office and MoPI guidelines.

The server uses Scyron's unique 'meta' tagging technology to speed up data identification and retrieval. Users can add 'meta' data tags to points of interest and access is made to this data rather than the video file. Users can access multiple projects and each file can be accessed by multiple users simultaneously.

DEMON server contains a workflow engine that manages secure access as well as tracking and logging all user activity to prevent duplication, ensuring project compliance and generating a tamper-proof audit trail for evidential integrity. 

DEMON enterprise server effectively provides a link between all remote DEMON manager systems (major incident, volume crime and BWV) and allows access across the force area. 

DEMON enterprise server links DEMON integrated workstations and DEMON Workgroup Systems either on the force network via Gigabit Ethernet or via ADSL to remote sites.  Video material is stored on the local DEMON servers only to limit the bandwidth required.  Metadata, project data and user data are stored on the central DEMON system.  

DEMON enterprise server also allows for further applications, currently under development such as digital video recording of interviews to be networked across the force area.  The advantage being that audio transcribers and case preparation teams would have instant access to such recordings, which will speed up file preparation.  

Complex cases involving major crime or terrorism may also benefit from this when a number of interviews are taking place simultaneously.  Interviews are often monitored by 'downstream monitoring'; specialist trained officers monitor the interviews and provide advice / updates to the interview teams.  Downstream links are currently restricted to particular police stations.  It may be possible to carry out the monitoring from a number of different police stations simultaneously.
